The online exam for attorney special magistrates has been revised for 2012. Any interested person may take this online exam. An attorney with at least three, but less than five, of the required five years of statutory experience, and who is otherwise qualified and wants to be eligible for appointment as a special magistrate, is required to complete the applicable training modules and pass the online exam. An attorney not interested in obtaining CLE credit for completing this training track, or not interested in receiving any statutory experience credit for completing this training track, is not required to take the exam. However, to help promote and maintain a high level of public trust in the VAB process, all attorney special magistrates are encouraged to take and pass this exam. The online exam for attorney special magistrates consists of 75 multiple-choice questions and is based on 2012 VAB training modules 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 9, 10, and 11. This exam must be started and finished within an uninterrupted, three (3) hour block of time. Starting an exam, then logging out of that exam, and then logging back in to the same exam is not allowed. If you do not finish an exam within the three hour time period, you will be required to start a new exam. The minimum passing score is 80 percent. To pass the exam, you must answer at least 60 questions correctly. If your score is less than 80 percent, we recommend that you study the applicable modules again. You may retest when ready. Completion of the 2012 Value Adjustment Board (VAB) training track for attorney special magistrates, including passing the revised online exam, has been approved by the Florida Bar as a 12 hour CLE course. The CLE course number for the 2012 training track for attorney special magistrates is 7556 2. (Note: The 2012 training track for VAB attorneys has also been approved as a separate CLE course. Because of substantial duplication of content in these two training tracks, Bar members should only apply for CLE credit for one of these training tracks.)
